Job Description:

Bureau Chief position will be responsible for the overall
management of the Electrical Bureau; directing and managing the
statewide program for electrical installation permits and
inspections; supervision of all electrical inspectors; in
consultation with the division director, recommending , developing
and implementing policies and procedures for the operation of the
Electrical Bureau; reviewing, developing and recommending for
adoption all electrical codes and standards; developing and
recommending criteria for electrical licenses and certification.
How does it get done? This position will use provided technology to
perform efficient inspection services, reports and maintain the
highest degree of professionalism and customer service. The Chief
Electrical Bureau Chief directly supervise three (3) Electrical
Bureau Area Chief Inspectors and numerous electrical inspectors
throughout the State of New Mexico. Incumbent will work closely
with other Construction Industries Division Bureau Chiefs and
division director to ensure life safety and property protection by
ensuring compliance with rules, regulations and laws. Who are the
customers? The constituents of New Mexico to include homeowners,
contractors and businesses and the citizens of New Mexico. Ideal
Candidate The ideal candidate will have the following: -
- Experience in the field of electrical work
- Knowledge of current adopted code used in the field of
Electrical
- Candidate must have strong management experience and skills -
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish a plus A Bachelor's Degree in
any field of study from an accredited college or university and
eight (8) years of professional level experience with a light
strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position
defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Substitutions

Substitution Table These combinations of education and experience
qualify you for the position: Education Experience 1 High School
Diploma or Equivalent AND 12 years of experience 2 Associate's
degree AND 10 years of experience 3 Bachelor's degree AND 8 years
of experience 4 Master's degree AND 6 years of experience 5 PhD
degree AND 4 years of experience --- Education and years of
experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
--- If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of
"semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting),
applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the
minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New
Mexico Driver's License and pass a pre-employment background
screening.
Must possess EE98; Electrical Contractors License, EE98J;
Journeyman Certificate, National Electrical Certification, State
Electrical Inspector Certification. Working Conditions Incumbent
will move about construction job sites in various types of weather
and conditions. Climbing ladders, negotiating ditches and trenches
and avoiding hazards typically related to construction sites. The
incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Work is performed
using a personal computer as well as long hours driving and sitting
in a State Vehicle. In-state travel is required. Supplemental
