the 10-year, $1.6 billion Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for
the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management,

HII Nuclear Inc. and BWX Technologies, joined by our critical
subcontractors Longenecker and Associates and Tech2 Solutions. N3B

results to the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract.Position
Location:This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.Los

retirees.Position SummaryThe Director, Waste Management 5 (TRU
Waste Management Operations Manager) supports the Los Alamos Legacy
Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of
Environmental Management, and Los Alamos NM Field Office.This
position is responsible for providing leadership, direction and
management of the TRU Waste Operations supervisors and trained
workforce responsible for the waste handling and waste processing
operations in accordance with written procedures. This includes
coordination and collaboration with Subject Matter Experts within
different disciplines, ensuring operational compliance with all TRU
related programmatic requirements, production planning and
coordination. This position involves a high level of collaboration
within and between N3B organizations to ensure work is performed in
a safe and compliant manner, in accordance with applicable Federal,
State, and local laws and regulations, and DOE Orders.This position
reports to the CH-TRU Director, Waste and Facilities
Operations.Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are
not limited to):Overview of Responsibilities
- Safely and compliantly manages TRU Waste handling and
processing operations.
- Support the planning, and supervises the execution of TRU Waste
Management activities including the startup or restart of nuclear
facilities, operations, and activities for CH-TRU.
- Provide SME Leadership for execution of TRU Waste Operations,
TRU Waste Technical Services, and to ensure safe complaint and
efficient waste management of TRU waste.
- Function as a Senior TRU Waste Operations Advisor and SME to
facilitate the execution of all TRU waste related services required
to support N3B activities.
- Supervise the execution of a DOE compliant Conduct of
Operations Program (DOE O 422.1), including Best Management
Practices.Planning / Goals / Upfront WorkWork with the leadership
team to set the annual strategic agenda.
- Assist with the establishment of CH-TRU's specific TRU Waste
Management goals.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the CH-TRU organizations'
business plans, structures, and resources.
- Align TRU Waste Management goals to achieve CH-TRU's
organization objectives, and N3B contract priorities
- Manage the integration of priorities and commitments, including
safety, security, environmental compliance, quality, contractor
assurance and business imperatives.Execution
- Identify and assign resources as necessary to execute work
scope.
- Support the TRU Program Management group in providing technical
direction for characterization/certification of TRU waste,
including AK, BOK, and SME program.
- Assist TA-54 Production Control group in development of
production forecasting & coordination, establishing priorities,
overseeing inventory management, establishing processing goals,
maintaining schedules, tracking and reporting on metrics, and
functioning as interface with the CH-TRU operations groups.
- Ensure Waste Operations are executed within the Nuclear Safety
Envelope and in compliance with DSA/TSRs, RCRA, and the Hazardous
Waste Facilities Permit.
- Assist TRU Waste Technical Services group in providing
Operational SME support in the areas of TRU Waste Processing and
TRU Waste Handling.
- Maintain communication and coordination between and within
CH-TRU functional groups, N3B central organizations, EM-LA, and
other stakeholders.
- Mentor and train TRU Waste Processing and Handling
supervisors.Monitoring / Measuring / Providing Feedback on
Performance
- Ensure efficient use of resources to satisfy mission
expectations
- Analyze TRU Operations planning, support, and production
activities and evaluate performance in meeting objectives or to
determine areas of potential cost reduction, increase productivity,
program improvement, or policy change.
- Accountable for managing operations cost and schedule
performance and provide in-depth accurate variance analyses in
accordance with EVMS program standards.
- Ensure the operations support organizations achieve CH-TRU and
N3B goals and objectives and operational performance as measured
through the use of EVMS tools.Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge,
Skills, Abilities): Position Specific
- Must have in depth knowledge and experience with CH-TRU waste,
including characterization, packaging, processing, and disposal at
WIPP.
- Must have knowledge and experience with nuclear materials
management, including nuclear and/or radiological facility
operations.
- Must have understanding of LLW, MLLW, and hazardous waste
requirements.General Management Skills
- Skill in conducting research, investigating alternative
solutions and recommended solutions on problems affecting
operations.
- Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to
interpret requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy
them.
- Ability to contribute functional expertise to Organizational
initiatives and communicate effectively.
- Experience in implementing complex operations projects,
readiness, and start-up of operations.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking
skills, with ability to convey information and represent the
organization to both internal and external customers to effectively
communicate progress, challenges, and mitigations.
- Experience in leadership, management, supervision, and human
resources administration of assigned employees.Education and
Experience Required:Bachelors' degree in a technical discipline
combined with at least 14 years' of relevant experience. Experience
should include a minimum of 6 years' of management responsibility.
However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein
the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's
duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is
acceptable. Education Equivalency: 2 years of relevant experience
for 1 year of college.Radiological and Hazardous Waste operations
experience is desired. 426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order
426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification
