Job Description:
**What You Will Do**
The Network, Infrastructure, and Engineering-Telecommunication
Services group (NIE-TS) is seeking an experienced Network
Professional 2 to provide engineering services for the
Collaborative Meetings team. NIE-TS provides telecommunication
technologies and services enabling science, research programs, and
daily operations at LANL. The group provides the entire Laboratory
with voice, wireless, data, and video communication services. Our

supporting communication services directly impacting scientific
discovery and national security. The selected candidate will have
the responsibility of designing, installing, maintaining, and
training customers on Classified and Unclassified VTC system. Media
display systems, Collaboration systems and Video Surveillance
systems. configuration management and the scheduling of secure and
unclassified teleconferencing for the Laboratory's teleconferencing
rooms. The candidate will also perform Tier 3 troubleshooting
services for teleconference room systems and for Desktop
conferencing systems (specifically WebEx and Zoom
conferencing).
**What You Need**
**Minimum Job Requirements:**
**System Design**
+ Knowledge of Video Teleconferencing (VTC) standards and protocols
that are used. H.323 and or SIP.
+ Experience with of Polycom CODECs concerning system
configuration, setup and troubleshooting.
+ Understanding of dual use systems for classified and unclassified
VTC.
+ Knowledge of Polycom bridging system. Able to configure bridged
conferences. Understanding of troubleshooting principals regarding
bridging functions.
**Business Systems**
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, including the
demonstrated ability to independently interpret data and
information to produce advanced Word documents, SharePoint
libraries, Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint
presentations.
**Information Technology Systems**
Working knowledge of network/telephony applications and security.
Demonstrated experience with Desktop conferencing systems (WebEx,
Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Google Meets, etc).
Demonstrated experience with Video Teleconferencing Systems.
**Communication**
Ability to take project from conception to completion with minimal
supervision.
**Personal Leadership**
Demonstrated ability to calmly manage frequent interruptions and
changing priorities; complete assignments without established
procedures; be available, dependable, and punctual; and act as a
facilitator when needed
**Education/Experience:** Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and
2 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of
education and experience directly related to the occupation.
**Desired Qualifications:**
+ Experience with computer network hardware such as routers,
switches, and fire walls and the software associated with these
types of devices.
+ Proficient providing technical assistance to ISSO in writing
security plans for new or updated classified system
**Location:**
This position will be in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for a
hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a
location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting
onsite will be periodically required. Hybrid is at the discretion
of management and can change at any time with appropriate
notice.
**COVID Vaccine:**

**Position commitment:** Regular appointment employees are required
to serve a period of continuous service in their current position

their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is

**Additional Details**
**Directive 206.2** - Employment with Triad requires a favorable
decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA
Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement
applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals
are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
**Clearance: Q** (Position will be cleared to this level).
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background
investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to
classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which
requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances.
Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear
weapons information may be required that may or may not be
available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual
must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required
except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for
additional information.
**New-Employment Drug Test:** The Laboratory requires successful
applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a
substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although
New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana,
use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A
positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of
employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
**Regular position:** Term status Laboratory employees applying for
regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
**Internal Applicants:** Regular appointment employees who have
served the required period of continuous service in their current
position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the

continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with
