What You Will DoThis position will be filled at either the
Solutions Architect 3 / Solutions Architect 4 level, depending on
the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job
responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate
is hired at the higher level.eXperience Information Technology
(XIT) division is seeking an energetic and customer-focused
Solutions Architect 3/4 for the XIT Classified Systems Services
(XIT-CSS) group. XIT-CSS consists of approximately 85
professionals, technicians, and students. XIT division is
responsible for the desktop and server support for computing
environments at the Laboratory. The division is organized around
field support groups that are focused on supporting unclassified
and classified programmatic and mission support needs, and a
technical services group that provides the enterprise level
configuration management services for these computing
environments.Solutions Architect 3 ($105,700 - $176,400) The
successful candidate will work on a team supporting institutional
and programmatic customers at locations across the laboratory,
performing a wide variety of system administration activities for
classified servers and workstations, including but not limited
to:Configure, deploy and manage Linux/UNIX systems including server
and desktop management in a heterogeneous environmentConfigure,
deploy and manage virtual desktops and serversProvide expert
knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system
architectures, network infrastructures, and client/server
principlesScripting and automating tasksDeploy and manage Linux /
UNIX systems to include imaging and central managementWork with
authentication services such as LDAPDeploy, configure and maintain
configuration management tools, such as CFengine, Ansibile,
PuppetManage projects from inception through implementation,
including project management, documentation, and training of users,
system administrators, or others who may maintain or use the end
productsProvide technical leadership and architectural direction to
solving complex software and hardware issues in a heterogeneous
computing environmentConfigure and manage storage and backup
solutionsResearch, document, and communicate current and future
technologiesInteract with customers and peers in a professional and
responsive mannerWork effectively in a team environment to resolve
issues, prioritize tasks, assist, and mentor fellow team members,
and participate in continuous process improvement effortsPractice
Information Architecture (IA) processes and standardsSolutions
Architect 4 ($127,800- $215,000) In addition to the duties outlined
above, the Solutions Architect 4 will be required to:Architect,
plan, design, document and implement complex Linux solutionsTest
emerging technologies to ensure adherence to compliance
requirementsArchitect and implement services such as CFEngine,
Ansible and LDAP within a large complex heterogeneous
environmentSecure systems by implementing STIG and NIST cyber
security frameworksUse authentication methods such as Active
Directory, Smartcard and Kerberos; standard network protocols,
including NFS, CIFSAnalyze and implement appropriate network and
host security frameworks, including firewalls and traffic
monitoring as neededWhat You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Extensive
experience administering Linux / UNIX systems (physical or virtual)
and developing and managing security policiesExperience with
configuration management and imaging of Linux / UNIX
systemsExperience scripting automating tasks in Linux / UNIX
supported language (e.g., Bash, C, Perl, Python, Java)Experience
planning, designing, and implementing storage area networks (SANs),
RAID storage configurations and storage appliances (NetApp and Dell
EMC Isilon, etc.)Experience with project management principles
including specifying, budgeting, scheduling, testing, and
implementing server and workstation solutionsAdditional Job
Requirements for Solutions Architect 4:Mastery of Linux / UNIX
systems to include knowledge of hardware and operating systems
including system architectures, network infrastructures, and
client/server principlesExtensive experience scripting automated
tasks in a Linux supported language (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python,
Java, or similar scripting languages)Experience leading complex
projects that require in-depth analysis, gathering of customer
requirements, and cross-discipline solution setsExperience
providing technical leadership and architectural direction for
complex systemsExtensive experience with vulnerability remediation
including use of cyber-related tools for auditing, compliance
verification, vulnerability testing, system patching and continuous
monitoringEducation/Experience at Solutions Architect 3:Position
requires a minimum of 10-15 years of related experience. At this
level, post-graduate coursework may be
desirable.Education/Experience at Solutions Architect 4:Position
requires a Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of related experience or
an equivalent combination of education and experience directly
related to the occupation. At this level, postgraduate coursework
may be expected.Desired Qualifications:Active DOE L or Q clearance,
or equivalent transferable clearanceExperience securing Operating
Systems using NIST and STIG cyber security frameworksExperience
administering Microsoft Windows desktops and serversAdvanced vendor
certification (RHCSA, RHCE, VMware, Storage)Location: This position
