What You Will DoMaterials Physics and Applications (MPA) Division develops new technologies that solve pressing national energy and security challenges by exploring and exploiting materials and their properties, developing practical applications of materials, and providing world-class user facilities.The Operations Support Specialist 2 will provide professional business and operational support, with particular attention to large procurements and operations for MPA Division. The selected candidate will be expected to operate with initiative, professionalism, dependability, and independence within a dynamic organization. Specific duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:Serve as a Professional Buyer / Designated Procurement Representative (DPR) to purchase via Ariba and pcard.Serve as point of contact and resource on procurement regulations, policies, and practices.Assist customers with completion of Sole Source Justifications, Statements of Work (SOWs), Exhibits (e.g., Safety, Security, and Environmental Subcontractor Requirements), and all other required procurement documentation.Work closely with division management to track priority procurements and proactively engage external organizations to ensure timely execution of the procurement process.Coordinate and track facility modifications related to large procurements, capabilities, and upgrades.Serve in Division support roles such as STR, AdSTR, QAR, among others, as needed.Support other administrative and operational needs for MPA division.Prepare and analyze reports and documents from LANL databases (i.e., training, chemicals, property, FSR, etc.) to facilitate management assessment.Assist in ensuring that facility deficiencies are remedied.What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Knowledge of, and experience with, Laboratory purchasing systems (i.e., Oracle Business Suite, Oracle iExpense, and Ariba).Demonstrated experience working effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and changing priorities, and the ability to follow multiple tasks to completion.Demonstrated experience in decision making, organizing and prioritizing tasks, as well as taking initiative.Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of internal and external personnel and customers, with a strong customer service focus.Demonstrated ability to work with little supervision.Skill in the preparation and presentation of reports.Computer skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, MS Teams, etc.).Ability to obtain Q-clearance, which normally requires U.S. Citizenship.Education/Experience: Position requires a Associate's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications:Demonstrated experience working with standardized software packages, including software for purchasing, entering detailed accounting information, and tracking procurements.Demonstrated skills in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems affecting procurements and facility operations.Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.Covid Vaccine: The COVID vaccine is mandatory for all Laboratory employees, on-site contractors, and on-site subcontractors unless granted an accommodation under applicable state or federal law.
