Job DescriptionSummaryResponsible for a wide variety of internal
and external communications activities, strategic and tactical,
conceptual and deliverable. Attains measurable results and improves
continuously.
An experienced professional with a full understanding of
specialized area plus working knowledge of related fields. Adept at
solving a range of complex problems. Contributes to the development
of organization's goals and objectives. Works under limited
direction; receives general instructions on new assignments. Work
is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met.
Demonstrates good judgment. Determines approach to solutions, plans
and schedules activities to accomplish objectives. Must be
receptive to coaching, education, and constructive criticism. Must
learn to provide effective feedback to others, upward and
downward.
EducationPosition typically requires a bachelor's degree in
communications, journalism, English, business and a minimum five
years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is looking for an exceptional
technical editor to join our Communications Arts and Services group
(CEA-CAS). CEA-CAS provides multidisciplinary, full-service
communications support for organizations and programs at LANL.In
this role, you will be working as a Communication Specialist with a
heavy emphasis on technical writing and editing. You will be
embedded with a specific Laboratory organization to provide
technical communications services to personnel, leaders, and
managers. You will edit existing technical material to ensure
quality standards across all documentation and will develop a
technical procedure template for your organization.
Minimum Job Requirements:The successful candidate will be extremely
detail-oriented with initiative and the ability to quickly adapt to
an intense and highly technical document environment. This job
requires the ability to obtain a Q clearance, which typically
requires US citizenship.
Technical Knowledge
Work Management and Customer ServiceThe ability to work on
multiple, sometimes conflicting, deliverables and deadlines in a
high-pressure work environment where priorities frequently shift.
The ability to work effectively within a team and with a variety of
technical personnel and managers.
Demonstrated ability to maintain professional and courteous
interactions with team members, technical personnel both inside and
outside the assigned organization, and a wide range of managers to
ensure priorities are understood, issues are identified and
resolved and deliverables are met.
Tools and SystemsMedium to advanced proficiency using Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. A solid understanding of
Word styles and templates and PowerPoint-specific formatting.
