Job DescriptionJP1409 - Security Assistant 3As a member of Personnel Security and reporting to the Personnel Security Group Leader, you will serve a vital function for our organization in support of the Security Mission.

You will provide administrative-type support in Personnel Security. Specific duties include creating and maintaining several appointment calendars used for scheduling clearance electronic questionnaires for investigations processing (eQIP) reviews, drug & alcohol tests, and HSPD-12 enrollments. You will also be the point of contact for the Defense Counterintelligence & Security Agency (DCSA) and their subcontractors needed logistical support for investigations processing. You will work with multiple customers each day via telephone, e-mail, Skype for Business, and various other approved methods for communication. You will be required to learn all requirements for granting access to classified information and will protect personally identifiable information.

Personnel Security is one of the busiest groups at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Your attention to detail and ability to work well with other individuals, groups, and independently will be a major part of obtaining success in this position.

Minimum Job Requirements:• Demonstrated experience working with high volumes of customers as both parts of a team and independently.• Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality customer interaction with all levels of personnel and management.• Demonstrated experience in protecting sensitive and private information.• Demonstrated accuracy in work that requires strong attention to detail and where high levels of accuracy are mandatory.• Demonstrated experience coordinating schedules and calendar management.

Education/Experience:Two-four years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, formal training, and relevant work experience.

Desired Qualifications:• Previous experience working in an office responsible for granting access.• Previous experience using call-center technology, incoming ticketing systems, and relational databases.• Knowledge of and experience with governmental regulations related to visitor control, badging, clearance policies and procedures, HRP, and computer and information security.• Knowledge of the Laboratory's security and safeguards policies, practices, and procedures and• Knowledge of the Laboratory's computer and information security policies practices, and procedures

Description:Security assistants provide administrative-type support in personnel security and computer and information security.Provides administrative-type support in access and visit control (Badge Office), personnel security (clearance processing), and human reliability program (HRP), and security system logistics. Specific duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to, compiling, organizing, and electronically entering security-related information; researching, compiling, and proofing security-related administrative-type assignments; and providing general customer service, including answering questions regarding established security policies and procedures. Applies knowledge of standardized rules of the job and Laboratory policies and principles to complete a wide range of tasks. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult and complex in nature, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations. Errors may be difficult to detect and would normally result in significant disruption or expense to correct. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.

Education:Position typically requires two-to-four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
