Job DescriptionCompany Profile:Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los
Alamos (N3B) manages the 10-year, $1.38 billion Los Alamos Legacy
Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of
Environmental Management, Los Alamos Field Office. N3B is a limited
liability company owned by HII Nuclear Inc. and BWX Technologies,
joined by our critical subcontractors Longenecker and Associates
and Tech2 Solutions. N3B brings operational discipline, proven
approaches and predictable results to the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup
Contract. Position Location:This position is located in Los Alamos,
New Mexico. Los Alamos is a tight-knit mountain community that
consistently ranks as one of Livability.com's Best Small Towns in
America. The city is a top spot for outdoor enthusiasts as it has
more than 120 hiking and biking trails, and residents enjoy easy
access to the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area. Thanks to the University
of New Mexico-Los Alamos' presence in the area, Los Alamos also has
a college-town vibe that's a major draw for young professionals,
families and retirees. COVID Vaccination Mandate:N3B is required by
contract to comply with the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force
Guidance concerning implementation of Executive Order 14043 on the
subject of vaccination against COVID-19. In October 2021, N3B
became subject to the Task Force mandate that all N3B employees are
required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the
employee's duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework,
remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law
(a religious or medical exemption with reasonable accommodation).
In December 2021, that mandate was stayed by way of an action in
federal court. Therefore, at this time, N3B highly encourages, but
does not require employees to be vaccinated. However, in the event
that the federal mandate is re-imposed in the future, you will be
required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and submit documentation
of proof of vaccination unless you are approved for an exemption on
religious or medical grounds. The company will provide additional
information regarding what information or documentation will be
needed and how you can request of the company a legally required
exception from this requirement. Position SummaryWhile working to
achieve N3B LLCC objectives, will ensure all activities and
operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will
maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure
procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and
quality an integral part of every task; including taking the
necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or
compromises security. Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may
include, but are not limited to):Reporting to the Waste Handling
Supervisor, this position provides technical assistance in the
loading, shipping, and/or storage of solid, liquid, hazardous,
radioactive, and/or mixed wastes. Specific duties may include, but
are not necessarily limited to, handling drums and/or other
containers of waste, operating forklifts and/or other mechanical
loading/handling equipment, and tracking related documents to
assure compliance. Work will be performed in a complex environment
involving radiological control and security areas. Work will be
performed both inside and outside of buildings in varying weather
conditions. This position requires job specific/site specific
training. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills,
Abilities):
- Must have an understanding of work hazards, safety practices,
and operating configurations
- Experience working in a team environment with a strong safety
culture
- Some understanding of handling and/or transporting solid,
liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and/or mixed wastes
- Ability to understand inspection and/or characterization data
on waste containers
- Work experience in a quality-oriented environment requiring a
high degree of attention to detail
- Experience in handling proper documentation for solid, liquid,
hazardous, radioactive, and/or mixed wastes
- Familiar with applicable local, state, and federal laws and
regulations relating to the handling of solid, liquid, hazardous,
radioactive, and/or mixed wastes
- Familiar with legal requirements and environmental impacts
affecting facility operations and administration
- Certification as a forklift operator and ability to obtain
incidental crane certification
- Experience in the use of personnel protective equipment
including air purifying respirators
- Experienced and knowledgeable in the use of the WCATs system
database
- Experience working in a Category 2 Nuclear Facility
- Experience working with Detailed Operating Procedures ( eg;
Reference or UET )Education and Experience Required:High School
diploma/GED in appropriate discipline with at least 6 years of
experience; however, a combination of education and relevant
experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform
the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately
demonstrated is acceptable. Education Equivalency: 2 years of
relevant experience for 1 year of college This position may be
subject to DOE O 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and
Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities. This DOE
Order establishes entry level requirements to ensure employees in
the positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.

planning and preparation of the communications, require skill,

the communications. Impact: Errors are very difficult to detect and
would normally require significant expenditures to resolve. Working
Conditions and Physical Requirements: Medium work involves lifting
no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying
of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work,
we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.
