Job Description:
We are looking for a collaborative leader to be part of a team
that attracts and retains strong staff, builds and maintains
community relationships, and crafts an educational experience that
builds high school students' social and emotional intelligence to
increase global citizenship and to ensure all students - across
race, gender, ethnicity, language, disability, sexual orientation,
family background, and/or family income - can excel in school. The
Head of School serves as the leader and chief administrator of The
MASTERS Program Early College Charter High School. As the Head of
School you would be responsible for implementing and managing local
and state regulations and procedures to ensure that students are
provided a safe and enriching learning environment that aligns to
academic standards of the Board of Education and managing
day-to-day operations of a charter high school located on a college
campus.
The MASTERS Program, located on the campus of Santa Fe Community
College, provides an early college experience for high school
students of all academic levels, and facilitates a seamless
transition to college after high school. The TMP academic staff
work in one large main office that is the physical heart and home
of the School - a place of humor and kindness, answers to
questions, and a source of much-needed snacks. The staff of TMP
functions and makes decisions as a team, meeting weekly to discuss
how things are going and what might need changing or adjusting. Our
goal is to create a school community that supports teenagers
emotionally and academically, giving them skills for living a
rewarding life.
The mission of The MASTERS Program emphasizes the value of a
conscious community as well as academic excellence. Creating and
maintaining a diverse school community that is compassionate and
based on kindness and respect for each individual is essential for
the success of The MASTERS Program. Our Friday all-school morning
gatherings or meetings with smaller groupings are one of the
foundational ways we consciously maintain our community - a venue
for discussing our values or responding to a TED talk or dealing
with issues we face. Emphasizing appreciation for others in these
meetings is also an effort to counteract the negative focus that we
see in our culture today.
