EOE/AA - M/F/Vet/Disability/Drug-Free Workplace SMSI is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise as a strong leader with skills to focus on designing custom solutions for multi discipline teams. Job Description: The Electrical Engineer supports the LANL engineering services team at the TA-55 Plutonium Facility with facility system upgrades and equipment installation design tasks. This involves the development of functional and operational requirements, design criteria, and identification of applicable codes and standards for new design packages. This serves as the electrical engineer for Nuclear Materials handling equipment and for installation of Nuclear Science Scientific Instrumentation. Develops modification design change packages. Dispositioning of field change requests and Nonconformance Reports. Reviews and approves design performed by Design Agencies external to LANL. Reviews vendor data. Assists in the development of engineering project management plans. Assists system engineers in developing and maintaining technical baseline documents at project closeout. Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and relates fields. Works on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features. Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments. Coordinates portions of overall assignments and review. Analyzes and approves the work of others. Conceptual and detailed design of low voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, PLC/PAC, HMIs process equipment and instrumentation. Required Experience: Minimum of 12 years experience or relevant experience which includes non-reactor nuclear facility design, nuclear reactor design and/or operations, nuclear environmental management, or naval nuclear operation/design. PE License is required. Education: Bachelor of Sciences in Electrical Engineering or Architectural-Engineering with Electrical Emphasis Engineering from an accredited program Additional Skillsets: Experience in the DOE and DOD market segments. Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills. May serve as Discipline Representative. Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments. Experienced in Electrical Power Calculation Software. Experienced in application of National Electrical Code. Working knowledge of NFPA, ISA, IEEE Regulatory Codes. Familiar with NQA-1 requirements. Possesses extensive knowledge of nuclear/industrial related design. Subject Matter Expert Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality. Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. DOE Clearance - Applicant must be able to obtain a DOE clearance. Location - Los Alamos, NM (other locations may be available) Eligible for Temporary Duty travel costs Position - Full Time Physical Requirements : The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
