(Jacobs), and HII Nuclear Inc.Responsibilities:We are looking for a highly motivated camera engineer (Senior Engineer) to develop imaging diagnostics across a wide range of applications in our MSTS Los Alamos Office located in Los Alamos, NM, a small town in the Southern Rockies. You will work with a team to support the development of custom, high-speed cameras. This engineer must be able to work well independently and in groups and will have demonstrated innovation in their previous work.Key ResponsibilitiesWork as a member of a small team designing, assembling, testing, and fielding complex and novel diagnostic systems such as high-speed multi-frame imaging cameras.Provide technical leadership including design and performance guidance on electronic and software design activities.Work with team members to inform and guide imaging performance and instrument control software.Provide system qualification in areas of electronic and optoelectronic performance of diagnostic systems.Work independently as a subject matter expert in relevant fields of study as well as in a team environment requiring communication with other groups to develop solutions for projects.Utilize working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation such as digitizing storage oscilloscopes, delay generators, digital multi-meters, high-bandwidth links, metrology instrumentation, and other test and measurement equipment to test, characterize, and field custom-designed diagnostic systems.Utilize soldering and industry workmanship standards in electronic and mechanical assembly and documentation tasks.Be a mentor to less experienced engineers, scientists, and technicians while working as part of a small development team.Qualifications:Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.Bachelors degree in an Electrical, Electronics, Optical or Computer engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), plus at least 5 years relevant experience. Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge. Graduate research experience may be recognized. Must have strong analytical, systemdesign, and programming skills. Must have strong time-management skills, be well organized, and have safework habits.Good written and verbal communication skills are required for this position.Demonstrates critical thinking, good judgement, a clear sense of purpose, attention to detail, accountability for deliverables, and is ready and eager to engage in new technologies and techniques.Must have excellent computer skills including knowledge of design and analysis software programs.Must be willing and able to travel as required by the job.Experience working with configuration management systems in an engineering design.Desired QualificationsKnowledge of FPGA programming and VHDL with Zilinx and/or Altera.Working knowledge of ARM microcontrollers and processors.Working knowledge of implementing digital signal processing (DSP) in programmable logic.Experience in integrating software, firmware, and hardware into working subsystems.Experience developing software in one or more languages including C++, C#, or equivalent language.Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.Must possess a valid driver's license. Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites, will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.Eligibility Requirements To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age.
