direction of the CEO, the Information Technology, Director is
responsible for planning, coordinating and managing the computer
system infrastructure, installation of software and hardware,
manages team members and maintains various systems and security.
Leads a team of systems administrators as well as other members of
the IT staff. Provides strategic oversight for deployment and
utilization of servers and various systems. Researches and
specifies new hardware requirements or upgrades for the company's
computer system and deals with any of the problems associated with
the new hardware. -
- Mentors, trains, and supervises other team members;
- Designs and implements special projects and/or equipment
(entire research systems: computers, instruments, data acquisition,
communication, and security);
- Develops, defines, and delivers project timelines and
milestones in a timely manner;
- Assists in disaster recovery plans for key critical systems and
servers with support from the Network and infrastructure vendor
(NMPCA);
- Installs, configures, maintains, repairs specialized
systems/applications and provides system support in a networked
environment;
- Interacts with other departments/units on a troubleshooting and
knowledge sharing basis;
- Researches, specifies, and recommends specific hardware and
software for the organization; with support from the Network and
infrastructure vendor (NMPCA);
- Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and
resource optimization as required. Configures CPU, memory, and disk
partitions as required;
- Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity
planning;
- Maintains inventory information of servers and other equipment
deemed critical;
- Maintains inventory of software licenses and manages annual
renewal of maintenance contracts;
- Participates and executes rollouts/deployments, migrations and
upgrades as part of the IT team;
- Reviews, escalates, resolves, and closes various tickets in the
ConnectWise Help Desk queue;
- Maintains current knowledge, skills, and expertise in computer
sciences and information technology as needed to maintain required
certifications and qualifications to fulfill position
responsibilities of this role;
- May be required to work flexible hours, rotate through ON-CALL
shift, and respond to network or system outages in a timely
manner;
- Provides timely, thorough, and concise periodic reports to LFMC
Senior Management, Board, Compliance Officer, and others as
required;
- Maintains working knowledge, and complies with all legal and
regulatory requirements of external agencies and governmental
bodies, as well as LFMC policies and procedures, as applicable to
the performance of duties under this job description. Consults
legal or compliance as necessary;
- Assists in Disaster Recovery planning and infrastructure build
out and maintenance as needed; with support from the Network and
infrastructure vendor (NMPCA);
- Conducts Microsoft security patch deployment and process
engineering as needed; with support from the Network and
infrastructure vendor (NMPCA);
- Automates, as appropriate and authorized, system administration
tasks such as server inventory control, file system maintenance,
and server service control using script technologies;
- Maintains a departmental compliance plan addressing essential
functions and high-risk activities in the management and operation
of the information technology department and its services,
including performance measures and auditable outcomes and providing
for periodic compliance performance reports to the LFMC Compliance
Officer. I. Education, Experience and Skills/Training
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Technical Business
Field, or equivalent experience, Required;
- BS in Computer Science, or 4 years relevant experience,
preferred;
- CMNO, A+ or Net+ certification, Microsoft Server+ or
equivalent; Security+ or equivalent; Systems Administration/System
Engineer certification Microsoft, VMware, and/or Unix,
required;
- CCNA, CCDN, MCSE (CURRENT), ITIL Foundation, Hardware/Software
Vendor (e.g. Cisco, Checkpoint) Certifications, Preferred.
- 3+ year's computer related experience in supporting multiple
projects/solutions on Microsoft Windows platforms as well as
LAN/WAN/Wireless infrastructure support experience with routers,
switches, and firewalls
- Ability to install and configure various operating systems,
databases, and applications to include principally MS Windows,
HyperV\VMware, MS SQL, and supporting utilities;
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, Cisco \ HP Switches and Routers, and
firewalls;
- Knowledge of Storage Area Networks and large disk arrays;
- Strong understanding of network protocols such as DNS, DHCP,
NTP, SSH, SSL, LDAP, and Kerberos;
- Working knowledge of network tools, such as, Visio, Wireshark,
etc;.
- Ability to work independently and provide leadership to other
members of the team;
- Excellent technical skills including problem solving
abilities;
- Extremely detail oriented and possess strong organizational
skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to abide by organizational policies;
- Ability to maintain attendance to support required quality and
quantity of work.
