113100 Maximum Salary 190900 What You Will Do The project manager
provides leadership and overall management of an assigned technical
portfolio, which may be large or small in total budget and may
encompass one or more discrete programs. The project manager
brokers with customers and individual researchers or research
groups/programs to determine what work will be done to meet the
customers' needs, general timeframes, and funding requirements. The
project manager is expected to develop working relationships that
span existing internal and/or external institutional missions and
extend into new opportunities as policies, missions, and
opportunities evolve. Programs are a complex set of related
activities needed to produce products or services over time to meet
customer requirements within a given mission area. Programs are
often ongoing over multiple years and evolve in response to the
customers' changing needs. The customer may be an external body,
such as a federal agency, or may be an internal organization within
the Laboratory. Programs often are funded by a specific source, but
may comprise similar activities funded by multiple sources.
Specific to A-1, the project manager will provide leadership and
work on efforts related to complex system modeling, analysis and
simulation for threats, mitigation, response and recovery,
including the development of tools and written reports. It is
expected that the project manager will focus on one large effort
within A-1, but may be asked to support similar activities within
A-Division and Global Security Program Offices. What You Need
Project Management: Professional level of knowledge and experience
in project management of technical or operational work, including
the development of project plans, work breakdown structures, and
work packages; managing to scope, schedule, budget, and technical
baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control
actions. Communication: Excellent interpersonal, and oral and
written communication skills. Demonstrated experience interfacing
with one or more internal/external customer to develop, negotiate
and define mission goals and programmatic deliverables. Safety &
Security: Assures safety and security compliance, maintains
required safety and security training, , and makes safety and
security an integral part of every task, including taking the
necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or
compromises security. Collaboration/Problem Solving: Demonstrated
record of successfully leading cross-organizational teams to ensure
products and/or services are delivered within budget and on
schedule. Strong Robust conflict resolution skills, with the
ability to interact effectively, build trust, and gain consensus
with all levels of internal or external employees is required.
Portfolio Management: Applies knowledge and experience to develop
an execution/implementation plan that covers the programmatic work
from conception to completion (e.g. overseeing the development and
final release of program/project management plans, i.e. work
packages). Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's
Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years' experience in
one of the following functions: engineering, procurement or
construction leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge
described above; or, an equivalent combination of education and
experience directly related to the occupation. Desired
Qualifications: Experience advocating for and working with national
security missions or operations. Experience working with diverse
technical efforts. Working experience in financial efforts,
specifically with LANL financial systems. Demonstrated experience
working with challenging and unpredictable external stakeholders.
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos,
NM.-- Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are
required to serve a period of continuous service in their current
position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs

that includes random drug testing. Regular position: Term status
Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are
converted to regular status. Internal Applicants: Regular
appointment employees who have served the required period of
continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply

served the required period of continuous service, they may only
