Job Description American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/02/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel /n Job Description/n American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med-Surg RN for a 13-week night shift contract, requiring a NM or compact RN license and two years of recent specialty experience. /n /n Responsibilities/n - Work in a hospital general medical unit (Med-Surg) - 12-hour night shifts with weekends and on-call as needed - Assignment duration is 13 weeks - Floating between departments and to locations within 20 miles is required - May be required to serve as charge nurse or preceptor depending on experience - Epic EMR used, on-site training available - Provide direct patient care to assigned group using nursing process and protocols - Collaborate with healthcare team and coordinate patient care - Oversee LPNs and assistive personnel as needed - Must complete and pass unit-specific education and competency testing per standards - First day orientation includes Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia Testing (Med-Surg nurses excluded) - Holiday coverage and flexible scheduling may be required /n /n Requirements/n - Active RN license in New Mexico or compact state required - Current BLS certification from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross - Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required - Two years of current Med-Surg experience required - At least one prior 13-week travel assignment required - Epic EMR experience preferred but not required - No local candidates permitted; must reside at least 50 miles from facility - Returning former perm staff must wait one year for consideration /n Benefits/n - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts /n American Traveler Job ID P-670736.
