Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced professional Registered Nurse
to join our Operating Room! As a Circulating RN in the OR, you will
provide patient care within a sterile environment during the
surgical procedure to ensure optimal patient safety. You will act
as a patient advocate. Using policy and procedure, you will follow
AORN guidelines and recommended practices to ensure an optimum

direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing,
evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken
and patient responses.+ Coordinates patients care through
collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team. +
Performs assessments as per unit standards and documents on
appropriate data base/assessment flow sheet using EPIC Electronic
Medical Records (EMR).+ Initiates, utilizes and documents
appropriate protocols and standards of care.+ Administers
medication and treatments as prescribed by physician, or standard
protocols and documents according to policy, using PYXIS medication
administration system.+ Identifies and meets patient and family
learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the
patient experience.+ Evaluates patient progression toward outcomes
per unit standards and documents through the Nursing Plan of Care
process.+ Performs competently in emergency situations.+ Delegates
or assigns aspects of patient care to healthcare team members
commensurate with their validated competency to perform the task.+
Assumes responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and
non-licensed assistive personnel.+ Provides leadership through
communication about and validation of patient care.+ Assists with
various procedures, treatments, surgical techniques or assigns to
other healthcare team members as appropriate.+ Completes patient
population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and
competency testing per unit standards.+ Demonstrates competency in
required psychomotor skills.+ Assists in orientation of new staff
or students, and serves as a resource person and professional role
model.+ Assumes professional responsibility for current nursing
structure and clinical standards of care.+ Incorporates PHS mission
in care-giving activities.+ Supports DON philosophies of shared
governance and models of care delivery.+ Assumes other leadership
roles (i.e. relief charge nurse) as required by the department.+
Meets professional requirements as follows:+ In-service
requirements:+ Age-specific training (care giving, treatment,
assessments specific to the age of populations served).+ Mandatory
yearly in-service to include BLS, safety training, bloodborne
pathogen/infection/TB training, Point of Care Training (POCT).+
Performance Standards:+ Participates in unit/department
governance.+ Adheres to PHS dress code for professionals, including
display of ID badge (scrubs provided).+ Documents own continuing
education.+ Maintains positive communication and relationships with
patients, peers and other healthcare team members.+ Participates in
quality improvement activities.+ Maintains a punctual and reliable
attendance record in adherence to the policy.+ Completes and
submits mandatory in-services, competencies and licensure
requirements prior to the expiration date.+ Adheres to safety and
equipment policies.Education: + Associate Degree from accredited
academic nursing program (If a program is under conditional status,
approval may be granted by system CNO)+ Minimum ADN preparation
Licensure: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License or
Graduate Nurse PermitCredentials: Registered Nurse-NM, Competencies
and skills required: + CNOR certification - preferred+ BLS, ACLS
and Microsoft Office+ Customer Service and Caring Practices +
