Registered Nurse - RN - Infection Prevention - Interim We are hiring a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for an Infection Prevention opportunity in Durango, CO.. The position requires a nurse candidate to have recent nursing home experience as an Infection Prevention specialist. Local and travel candidates will be considered!   • Sufficient computer skills required to perform duties. CREDENTIALS REQUIRED:
  • Nursing degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification, Physical, TB test
  • Current RN license in the state of employment
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field.
  • BSN, MPH or related field plus CIC. MORE ABOUT THE JOB: The Staff Development Coordinator will build the clinical department in accordance with current Federal, State and company standards, guidelines, and regulations. The RN (registered nurses) will Demonstrate and teach resident care in classroom and clinical units to nursing staff. Instructs in principles and application of physical, biological, and psychological subjects related to nursing and resident care. The RN will be responsible for the facility infection prevention program to include, but not limited to, Antibiotic Stewardship, infection surveillance, prevention, and control to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring and transmitting infections among residents, staff members, contract workers, volunteers, students, and visitors. GENERAL DUTIES Assesses the training needs of nursing staff to develop, implement, evaluate, and document staff development programs including General Orientation, Job Specific Orientation, In-Service, and Continuing Education Programs for nursing department personnel. Identifies, plans, implements, directs, and evaluates educational program within the facility based upon individual facility needs, resident needs, and in compliance with State and Federal regulations; implements these programs on all shifts. Responsible for the planning, coordinating, and conducting required in-service programs and/or special training sessions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and/or corporate requirements. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing (designee) to complete periodic needs assessment identifying ongoing learning needs of staff and assists in developing and conducting educational programs to meet the identified needs. Maintains appropriate documentation of educational programming, each individual employee s attendance at educational programs and competency validation as needed. Acts as preceptor, coach, and resource person to assist nursing department employees to successfully complete the job specific orientation. Develops positive employee relations, incentives, and recognition programs. Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication. Review employee performance during skills observations. Infection Prevention rounding. Data collection with tracking and trending of infections and infection rates. Maintain records for employee health files. Tracking of resident and employee immunizations as required. Outbreak investigations. Staff training on infection prevention policies and facility specific practices. Attendance and participation in the monthly Infection Prevention meeting and the facility QAPI committee meeting. On call as required. QUALIFICATIONS Currently licensed as an RN in the state practiced. Associate or bachelor s degree from an accredited nursing school preferred. Five years in long-term or acute health care preferred. At least 2 years nursing education experience required. CDC or equivalent Infection Prevention training within 30 days of hire.
