COVID-19 Response Medical Epidemiologist (DOH/EPI #10106086) For more Job Requirements & Classification Description: This position will report to the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Bureau (IDEB) Chief and will act as the medical epidemiologist consult for the COVID response unit and as a liaison with the Bureau of Health Emergency Management. Participate in Epidemiology and Response Division (ERD) and Infectious Disease Epidemiology Bureau (IDEB) planning, program evaluation and health status indicators and initiatives, including COVID-19. This position will serve as an active member of IDEB core function, including day-call and after hours call duties; will provide medical leadership to the NMDOH Department Operation Center (DOC) and provide subject matter expertise for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness CDC Cooperative Agreement. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has experience in:

* Emergency management;
* Patient investigations and outbreak response;
* Familiarity in notifiable disease surveillance and public health practice. Medical Degree from an accredited medical school is required and six (6) years in the licensed practice of medicine is required. Must be licensed in accordance with the Medical Practice Act, Sections 61-6-1 through 61-6-35 NMSA 1978, and 16.10.1 through 16.10.19 NMAC, as applicable. Substitution Table No substitutions. Must possess required licensure, certification or registration and required number of years of experience Employment Requirements This position is designated a safety sensitive. Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check is conditional pending results of criminal background check. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds may be required. Some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
