Director of Volunteers and Family Services








Directs all aspects of HFHGN's Land Development and Home Construction activities, including new and renovated homes. Oversees all aspects of HFHGN's land acquisition, land development, land improvements, metro planning and zoning and performance bonds and letters of credit to ensure Habitat of Greater Nashville has buildable lots in accordance with the approved build schedules. Efficiently and effectively designs, builds and/or renovates quality homes for low-income families in a safe and affordable manner, utilizing outside architects and engineers, staff, contractor and volunteer labor, and purchased and donated materials, providing community involvement through volunteer building. Oversees work of Construction Design and Operations Senior Manager, Construction Staff and Volunteer Manager, Construction Site Manager, Construction Supervisor-Divisions, and Construction Manager/Vendor and Punch in preparing the construction sites and building new homes in accordance with build schedule and all regulations and codes. Oversees agency home renovation projects. Reports to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Program
Recruit, orient and schedule volunteers for SFHFH projects.
Oversee and maintain the volunteer database insuring timely and accurate input of data.
Direct the office volunteers in day-to-day projects as necessary.
Develop and implement a formal and informal volunteer appreciation program across the affiliate.
Working in partnership to create volunteer position descriptions, orient, interview, train and place volunteers.
Maintain volunteer records (job descriptions, liability waivers, information on hours served, etc) including updating the volunteer database.
Ensure timely communication and scheduling of groups (sponsor and non-sponsor) and individual volunteers for the ReStore, construction and other special events.
Oversee non construction logistics for build weeks and special builds.
Program evaluation, volunteer retention & appreciation.
Create and/or maintain written documentation of volunteer processes and policies.
Develop and implement an annual plan to train staff in working with volunteers. In coordination with other Directors, develop and implement an annual plan to educate staff and volunteers on the mission of Habitat and the need for affordable housing.

Family Services
Maintain contact with Family Partners by including them in volunteer opportunities, speaking to other potential homeowners or other outreach activities.
Provide on-going Partner Family Training opportunities through Family Advocate Committee.
Attend Neighborhood Association meetings and/or other community-based functions representing SFHFH and its activities in the neighborhood.
Serve as staff liaison to appointed Chairpersons of the Family Support/Selection Committees.
Assist with timely and accurate closing/house transfers and screen all applications and determining eligibility.
Track and report to Affiliate management the progress of all applications; ensure timely responses and answering inquiries about status of applications.
Serve as staff liaison to Family Support Committee, including attending all meetings, informing Family Support Committee of all pertinent affiliate events.
Notify applicants of approval or denial.
Meet with families, as needed, to discuss application process and final decisions.
Review application process and decision in event of appeal request.
Schedule and conduct initial meetings with each prospective homeowner upon approval.
Track sweat equity, maintaining contact with potential homeowners until requirements are complete.
Monitor payments of down payments until construction is completed.
Schedule and/or conduct homeowner workshops; schedule presenters; ensure that potential homeowners have completed workshop requirements before moving into home.

Staff Supervision
Apply for and manage AmeriCorps Grant.
Supervise any and all AmeriCorps programs/members within Santa Fe Habitat for Humanity.
Prepare all paperwork related to AmeriCorps.

Records and Report Management:
Continually update and increase the size of the volunteer database, ensuring correctness of volunteer data, family data and other pertinent information.
Assist volunteers in maintaining volunteer and family information and contact reports.

Participation in Training & Development Activities:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding Habitat's mission, policies, and procedures.
Identify needs for skill improvement and seek opportunities to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
Attend and actively participate in any training sessions available through Habitat or other local organizations.
Stay abreast of development and trends in volunteer management and in the social services industry.
