Summary: Our data centers are the foundation upon which our
businesses operate. In order to Plan, Architect and Deliver our
data center projects requires significant cross functional
communication as well as the ability to interact with very
technical teams. This is a challenging role as the signal for
capacity and the ever-evolving hardware and software developments
provide for a dynamic environment. To meet our business goals, we
are continuously innovating within our data center designs and
delivery models to ensure high availability, the capacity to meet
our extreme growth demands and obtaining the most robust and
cost-effective online service in the world! The successful
candidate will communicate closely with Site Selection, Delivery
and Design teams to lead budget, schedule constructability studies
for all the future regions globally. In addition, the successful
candidate will lead the Master Planning and site development
process. The selected candidate will have experience in
Preconstruction as well as significant construction for greenfield
hyper-scale data centers or similar complex construction projects.
The candidate will report to the Global Site Development Manager.
This position is full-time. The project locations will be spread
across the globe with a significant concentration in the United
States. Managing stakeholders located across all regions and time
zones is a significant challenge and is key to the success of our
projects.Required Skills: Program Manager, New Region Development
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Site Selection team to establish the key
milestones needed to meet the construction schedule (Zoning,
permits, tax agreements, Power, etc.). Coordinate the hand off of
the projects from Site Selection team to the New Region Development
manager
- Provide input into development, review and iteration of Basis
of Design (BOD) for various Lease Product Types
- In coordination with stakeholders, lead development and
management of project scope, schedule, budget, quality
requirements, proactive risk identification and mitigation, etc.
for Lease DC projects in alignment with the BOD
- Tightly manage design and scope development from inception
through IFC and managing scope change effectively
- Manage ambiguity of project parameters and changing project
limitations
- Work in conjunction with the teams Subject Matter Experts
(SMEs) to understand the cost, quality and schedule impacts of new
designs, materials and construction methods
- Strategic planning including support for new product build
requirements, project coordination and scheduling, suggested vendor
selection, allocation model and procurement to maintain synergy
with our cross functional partners
- Frequently interface with construction managers, technical
program managers, cost estimators, schedulers, capacity planning
teams, operations, site teams and multi-disciplinary engineering
partners to manage projects through the pre-construction phase.
Keeping partners and stakeholders informed and accountable
- Ensure internal processes are followed and align expectations
early on delivery timelines
- Develop preliminary schedules and cost estimates with high
level resource planning and stakeholder coordination
- Lead regular status updates meetings to share current status
with others and keep management well informed of changes to the
project timeline as it develops
- Support leadership with forecasting, scheduling and budget
efforts as required
- Share current project status with upstream and downstream
partners, ensuring crisp and complete hand-offs between teams
- Represent the Global New Region team at a deep level throughout
the org, to be able to build the appropriate communication channels
both within and outside the team
- Partner across diverse pillars to set goals, direction, and
strategy to support a portfolio of leased data centers
- Resolve conflicts (both technical and interpersonal) to ensure
the project teams have paths toward resolution
- Mentor Data Center design and construction staff
- Domestic and international travel required (25-30%)
- Collaboration with the Design team to lead the master plan and
the building designs with the construction schedule
- Continuous market analysis in all the States to anticipate
potential impacts in the new regions (Big projects outside FB
program, shortage in labor or materials, etc.)
- Help creating the strategy and roadmap to evaluate the sites
and keep consistency between all the studies. Present to leadership
the recommended sites performing a detailed risk analysisMinimum
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or equivalent
technical degree and/or minimum of 12 years direct experience in
project planning and construction management
- Pre-construction (programming, scheduling and cost estimating)
experience managing multi-group, multi-disciplinary development
projects, data centers, live mission critical facilities or similar
technical construction projects
- Experience with design and deployment of technical electrical
and mechanical systems
- Experience managing vendor relationships and knowledge in
standard practices in the design and construction industry,
including knowledge of fast-track design-build process and
associated documents and contracts
- Experiences working with local, state, domestic and
international construction build codes and health & safety
requirements
- Risk Management experience: Identification, assessments, and
mitigation strategies
- Coordination experience leading a team and experience towards a
single project outcome
- Communications and reporting experience
- Experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint
- Experience with ground-up construction and greenfield site
development requirementsPreferred Qualifications: Preferred
