For more Job Requirements & Classification Description: This position oversees the development of protocols identifying public health needs at sites of public health concern and assure that these protocols adequately, appropriately, and usefully address the concerns at these sites. The position will be located in the Epidemiology and Response Division's Environmental Health Epidemiology Bureau and the bureau will ensure that the protocols follow appropriate environmental health epidemiology principles to satisfy the requirements of the grant award this position needs to be created and filled. How does it get done? The key tasks for the position include managing the activities of the NM APPLETREE Program per the grant guidelines as follows: 1. Hire, supervise and provide necessary training and guidance to the staff of NM APPLETREE Program - Risk Assessor and Safe Places Project Coordinator.(30%) 2. Develop protocols for identifying the public health needs at each site of concern and assure that it is developed in a way that makes it appropriate and useful in addressing the concerns at these sites while also following evidence-based principles of environmental health epidemiology (20%) 3. Work collaboratively with communities, local, state, and federal agencies, and national organizations to respond to specific public health issues related to harmful environmental exposures to hazardous substances. (20%) 4. Develop work plans, evaluation plans and write reports necessary to meet the requirements of the NM APPLETREE Grant Program. (25%) 5. Environmental Health Epidemiology Bureau duties include providing EHEB on-call services 1 to 2 days a month. (5%) Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have:

*Flexibility, team player;
*Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment and be responsive to multiple priorities and deadlines that meet state and federal regulations;
*Ability to think critically. Bachelor's degree in Physical, Natural, or Environmental Science, Soil Science, or Engineering and five (5) years of experience in public/environmental health, environmental science, Air Quality Management, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Hazardous Waste Management, Wildlife Management, and/or Water Resources. Substitution Table These combinations of education and experience qualify you for the position: Education Experience Education Experience 1 High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 9 years of experience OR High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 9 years of experience 2 Associate's degree in the field(s) specified in the minimum qualification AND 7 years of experience Associate's degree or higher in any field AND 9 years of experience 3 Bachelor's degree in the field(s) specified in the minimum qualification AND 5 years of experience 4 Master's degree in the field(s) specified in the minimum qualification AND 3 years of experience 5 PhD degree in the field(s) specified in the minimum qualification AND 1 year of experience --- Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
--- If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds may be required. Some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
