Job Description:
The Manager Construction 4 is responsible for supporting all
functional management responsibilities including planning,
coordination, and execution of all construction activities required
to successfully complete projects on schedule and within budget.
This position has the overall responsibility for safety leadership,
accident prevention, and implementing a Zero Accidents philosophy
within the construction organization. This position develops
execution strategies, helps refine project scopes, schedules, &
project budgets. This position also provides guidance on
construction management principles and practices to other
functions/organizations. What You Need Thorough knowledge of all
phases of construction operations, construction quality,
subcontract management, construction technologies, and project
management. Understanding of environmental laws and requirements.
Understanding of government compliance standards. Demonstrated
track record of successful management of construction projects or
functions. Demonstrated awareness of zero accident safety
initiatives. Demonstrated awareness of project planning tools and
techniques. Demonstrated record of effective management in the
following areas: financial management, personnel management,
safety, security, and quality management. Demonstrated ability to
build and grow both internal and external organizational
relationships. Demonstrated experience in effective
decision-making, creative problem solving, and continuous
improvement programs. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written
communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact with all
levels of personnel and customers. Desired Skills: Experience as a
contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) Successful experience
managing construction projects or functional portfolios of greater
than > $500M Experience working under nuclear quality standards
(NQA-1, etc.) Current or previous certification in Earned Value
Management systems Current or previous experience developing
proposals in response to client requests Current or previous
experience managing functional programs (subcontracts management,
quality, engineering, etc.) Current or previous experience managing
construction in the TA-55 area at LANL Education Required: Position
typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or
Scientific discipline from an accredited institution and 8 years
related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and
experience directly related to the occupation. Notes to Applicants:

physically located in Los Alamos, NM. Position commitment: Regular
appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous

information. HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of
the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of
Federal Regulation, Part 712, --712.11. These requirements include
on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and
psychological evaluations. 426.2: This position is subject to DOE
Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification
Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes
entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific
positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful
applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a
substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Regular
position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for
regular-status positions are converted to regular status. Internal
Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the
required period of continuous service in their current position are
eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an
employee has not served the required period of continuous service,
they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented
approval of their Division Leader. Please refer to Policy Policy
