Job Description:
What You Will Do LANL has an exciting opportunity for an
experienced manufacturing accountant to support the Weapons
Program. In this role, the individual will share their expertise
while collaborating cross-functionally to shape this new position,
and provide maximum value to the Lab and its Weapons Program. The
individual selected for this position will be the lead
manufacturing accountant and report to the property accounting team
leader. They will perform manufacturing cost activities in a
manufacturing cost environment, and will review and determine the
appropriate accounting system. The individual will work closely
with technical program managers to ensure costs are captured
completely and work-in-process and inventory are valued accurately.
This position requires the individual to work on-site occasionally.
What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: General Experience working
in a complex organization with diverse operations. Demonstrated
record of effective teamwork coupled with strong communication,
interpersonal, analytical and technological skills with an ability
to manage multiple priorities. Proven ability to meet deadlines and
identify process improvements while supporting the organization's
strategic objectives. Manufacturing Experience Extensive cost
accounting experience. Working knowledge of developing cost
standards for materials and labor, analyzing production costs and
recommending changes, computing cost allocations, performing
month-end cost accounting close, maintaining cost accounting system
and cost ledger and analyzing inventory valuations. Accounting
Experience Extensive knowledge of accounting/financial concepts and
principles such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP),
Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and proper application of internal
controls for accounting operation. Broad understanding of
accounting and finance functions. Strong problem solving,
analytical skills, attention to detail and demonstrated ability to
interact effectively with all levels of personnel and customers.
Experience analyzing and interpreting trends requiring management's
attention, preparing financial and management reports and
procedures and presenting findings and specific recommendations to
senior management. System Experience Experience developing,
implementing and maintaining cost accounting systems and accounting
controls systems. Experience in establishing and reviewing system
requirements for accounting processes. General understanding of
system requirements for manufacturing accounting. Education and
Years of Relevant Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting,
finance, business administration or a related field and eight years
of experience. Desired Qualifications: Experience using Enterprise
software to support business operations Technical acumen for
information technology MBA/CPA/CMA or advanced degree in a related
field Experience working in an organization subject to government
